Meet our founder Kate
Hi, I’m Kate.
I’ve been working in hospitality for over 15 years across restaurants, cafés, pubs, and large-scale events. Throughout my career, I’ve held management and supervisor roles many times, but the part of the work that has always stayed with me is training. Supporting staff, building confidence, and helping people feel capable in fast-paced environments.
I’ve completed studies in high-performance leadership for my own professional growth, and through that process, I realised something clearly: I wanted to help others in hospitality access the kind of training and support that is becoming harder to find in the industry.
The moment Attune Hospitality Training truly took shape came during a large event shift.
Let me set the scene.
A 500-person event. A four-hour service window. A three-course meal.
The floor staff were gathered around supervisors for briefing.
“You have three tables of 15 people each. You’ll be taking drinks orders and going to the bar yourself to collect them.”
No pens. No paper. No detailed explanation of service flow, timing, or expectations.
As the briefing went on, I watched the staff around me, their expressions growing more concerned. The information was minimal, and we were expected to fill in the gaps, to wing it. When the briefing ended, I approached another staff member who looked particularly overwhelmed and asked if she wanted help.
It was her first time running a section at a large-scale event.
In that moment, I realised something important:
Where do we actually learn how to do this well?
Where do hospitality workers get practical, front-of-house training that prepares them for real shifts, without committing to an entire hospitality course that often doesn’t cover these specific, on-the-floor skills?
I’ve met so many staff who want support, who care about doing a good job, but who haven’t been shown how. That’s when I knew I wanted to offer the industry something different.
Alongside hospitality, I studied art and education at university. During this time, I completed placements in high schools, worked as a teacher’s aide, and even spent time teaching sex education, experiences that deeply shaped my understanding of how people learn and retain information. Those environments showed me how powerful active, engaging learning can be, especially when people are given space to ask questions, make mistakes, and practise without pressure.
I want to bring these two worlds together.
Attune Hospitality Training is built on the idea that learning shouldn’t only happen mid-shift, under pressure. We need lower-stakes environments where skills can be practised, refined, and understood before they’re expected on the floor.
I’ve worked over 65 shifts through hospitality apps like SUPP, and I know what it takes to walk into unfamiliar venues and perform confidently. More and more people are working through agencies and platforms like SUPP and Sidekicker, where competition is high and formal training is minimal. These workers need access to practical, relevant training and that’s what I want to help provide.
I’ve stood in too many briefings where staff are expected to know without ever being shown.
Attune exists to change that.
My mission is for individuals to feel empowered in their skills, confident in their knowledge, and supported in their growth, so hospitality can once again feel professional, human, and sustainable.
Good service starts with feeling prepared and that begins with being taught well.
